Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin is a Canadian and New Zealand actress. Born in Winnipeg and brought up in Wellington Paquin made her acting debut in the role of Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at the age of 11 which made her the second-youngest winner of the award in Oscar history. She won the role of Flora McGrath the daughter of the mute Scottish pianist who, in the mid-19th century moves into New Zealand for an arranged wedding after she accepted an audition for open casting; she was nine years older and had no previous experience as an actor. When she was in her teens, the actress made the move to America. Paquin was the main character in the film Fly Away Home in 1996 and had a minor part in Jane Eyre in the film when she was only a child. Paquin played Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. She also played the Queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (2007). The actress played teens in Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) as well as A Walk on the Moon (1999) as well as the character of a groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
